Markus Clemens

Markus Clemens is professor at the Chair for Electromagnetic Theory at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Germany.
Born 1968 in Wittlich, he received his diploma in Mathematical Engineering (“Technomathematik”) from the University of Kaiserslautern in 1995. In 1998 he finished his phd at the Institute for Electromagnetic Theory at the Technische Universität Darmstadt in the field of Computational Electromagnetics, where in 2003 he also received his venia legendi in „Electromagnetic Theory“ and „Scientific Computing“. In 2004 he became head of the Chair for Theory in Electrical Engineering and Computational Electromagnetics at the Helmut-Schmidt-University, Hamburg. Since 2009 he is heading the Chair for Electromagnetic Theory at the Faculty of Electrical, Information and Media Engineering at the University of Wuppertal, Germany.
His research activities focus on the development and application of numerical simulation methods for Computational Electromagnetics and Computational Multiphysics. His research projects have a focus in numerical high performance computation schemes for complex models of electric power transport and power conversion systems as well as for high-frequency applications up to the terahertz range. This also includes numerical electromagnetic compatibility testing methods and realistic simulations of electromagnetic field exposure scenarios of biological organisms. Markus Clemens is senior member of the IEEE and active member of the International Compumag Society for several years now.

Markus Haltmeier

Markus Haltmeier received his Ph.D. degree in mathematics from the University of Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria, in 2007, for research on computed tomography. He was then involved in various aspects of inverse problems as a research scientist with the University of Innsbruck, the University of Vienna, Austria, and the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen, Germany. Since 2012, he is full professor with the Department of Mathematics, University of Innsbruck. His current research interests include inverse problems, signal and image processing, computerized tomography, and machine learning.

Raffaele Martone

R Martone, born in Napoli in 1950, obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering (magna cum laude) from the Università di Padova in 1973. He became an Assistant Professor in 1975 and an Associated Professor in 1982. Since 1986, he has been a Full Professor of Electrical Science. He served as the Vice Chancellor (Int. Aff.) at Seconda Università di Napoli, Italy from 2006-14. He was at University of Calabria, Italy (from 1975, serving as Head of the Department of Electronic Eng.), at University of Salerno, Italy (from 1982, serving as Head of the Department of Electronic Engineering) and, from 1994 at Seconda Università di Napoli, serving (1996-2004) as member of Governing Council.

From 1997 he was Director of the National School for PhD Students "F, Gasparini” of the National Group of researchers in Electrical Science and (1996-2008) Coordinator of PhD School in “Electrical Energy Conversion” at SUN. From 1975 he taught several courses, including Electrical Science, Circuit Theory, Optimization Methods, High Performance Computing, Plasma and Fusion Technology.

Chairman (2004-10) of International Steering Committee of Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism (OIPE); Chairman (1989-91) of Editorial Board of COMPUMAG Conference; Chairman of OIPE Conference, Sorrento 2006.

Visiting Scientist in several Labs including IGI of CNR, Padua; ENEA Frascati, JRC Euratom, Ispra; Max Planck Institut fur Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany, Culham Laboratory, UKAEA, United Kingdom; Center EFDA/F4E of the European Union, Barcelona, Spain. Member of Editorial Board of several scientific journals and international scientific conferences. Coordinator or principal investigator in several national and international scientific projects founded by national or European institutions. Vice-president of the Competence Centre “New Technologies for Productive Activities”; Chairman of Technical and Scientific Committee of Project CAMPUS R.I.S.E..

Scientific interests are in numerical study of electromagnetic fields and behavior of plasmas in magnetic fields, including the design of reactors for controlled thermonuclear fusion, inverse problems and optimization in electromagnetism, coupled electromagnetic problems, non-invasive electromagnetic diagnostics.
